Superfood Pesto

The addition of Hemp seeds in this recipe provides a wonderful source of plant based protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Nutritional yeast is packed with B vitamins to support energy levels and provides a dairy free ‘cheesy’ flavour and texture. Many store bought pesto’s contain canola oil, instead we have used our superfood extra virgin olive oil as a base.

  • ½ cup pine nuts
  • ¼ cup hemp seeds
  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 bunch basil (stems removed)
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) 
  • 1 tsp salt 
1.  Place all ingredients into a food processor and blitz until the mixture is well combined but there is still some texture. 
  • If you like a thinner consistency gradually add more olive oil and continue to blend until the desired consistency is achieved.
